The word glossa means tongue, which implies speech. The word lingua also means tongue, which is the root of linguistics and language. If you are overthinking, the part of the brain that generates words is overactive. Because the tongue muscle is directly linked to this verbal chatterbox in the brain, relaxing the tongue is a direct way to help quiet the voices in the mind. Relax your tongue, and Reboot your EmoThinking, adrenal mind.
This glossary contains some terms and phrases that I made up, and it might clarify how I define familiar phrases:
Accept:
The First Principle - taking in the sensory information. Being open to the moment.
Adrenal Mind:
The programs within your neural software that detect threats and immediate danger. This part of you also has access to your motor system, so you can respond reflexively with Freeze, Flight, or Fight. I also refer to "the adrenals" as this short-term survival mechanism. While vital, it can also be overused and detrimental. Rebooting updates the adrenal mind, making it helpful instead of hurtful.
Adrenal Spectrum:
A scale that measures your safety status, including your overt safety and your internal, molecular safety, including toxic exposure.
Adrenaline:
Adrenaline turns up every dimmer switch, dumps electricity into your muscles, and activates your motor system. Adrenaline inspires animals to either play dead, run, or fight.
Anatomical Hardware:
The body. This includes organs, tissues, bones and blood. All of the atoms that comprise your human form. Anatomical Hardware is different from Neurological Software, which are the signals that animate the anatomy.
Anti-Gravity Devices:
Muscles defy gravity and lift heavy bones when they contract. Turning off your dimmers and relaxing your muscles lets go of the skeleton, giving your bones a trust fall.
BelieEmoThoughts:
Beliefs generate emotions, which generate thoughts, which leads to behavior.
Cell Danger Response (CDR):
Dr. Naviaux describes how cells perceive threats and how they respond to them. See NeuroImmune Symmetry.
Compassion:
The natural response to empathy; the action of empathy. You must have empathy first, and bond with the other, to feel compassion and act with kindness. Compassion helps in any way, like stem cells become whatever is necessary.
Compassion Cycle:
A positive feedback loop, the inverse of a vicious cycle. Rather than circling the drain, you come up the cone and expand. Instead of interest on a debt, you earn dividends on your investment.
Dimmer Switch:
Located in the motor cortex of the brain, giving you the ability to send electricity to any voluntary muscle and contract it. Where movement begins.
EmoThoughts:
Thoughts that have an emotional component. Pure thinking is rare, a state of contemplation or observation that doesn’t have an attachment to what is being observed. Even wonder has emotion, the exaltation of witness what is.
Empathy:
The merging of self with other, which unifies the two. If you feel what your friend feels, you share that experience. Picture overlapping circles in a Venn diagram. Also, stories are powerful because audiences empathize and identify with the characters. SelfEmpathy is catching your adrenal wounds that are stuck in Freeze Flight Fight. In a medicinal context, empathy is the diagnosis. Compassion is the treatment.
Embody the Understanding:
Learning a lesson in your bones, by living it. Somatically digesting an experience. This isn’t just Accepting and Feeling, it also includes Release. If you are holding onto what happened, the content is stuck in your tissue and/or your subconscious, so it’s not processed yet.
Experiential Experiment:
Similar to a Thought Experiment, but not just an intellectual exercise. Experiences are somatic.
Falling:
A body in motion. Being in transition and moving down in the gravitational field. Walking is actually falling forward and then catching yourself with your front leg. Walking is a trust fall where you trust your front leg to catch you!
Feel:
The Second Principle that processes the sensory data and experiences what is.
Flow:
The natural state kinetic energy. Regulating flow is important to balance stagnant, potential energy and explosive, excessive movement.
Friend or Foe:
The adrenals are programmed to ask this question. If Foe is perceived, the adrenal implement Freeze Flight or Fight. If Friend is perceived, the parasympathetic side is triggered and Accept Feel Release is implemented. The immune system asks the same question, only on a molecular level. Molecules are either Self (Friendly) or Non-Self (Foe, Other).
Gravity:
A force, exerted by matter, that attracts matter. The Dan Tien is the Center of Gravity of the human body
Habituate:
The verb of habit, the process of how habits become habitual. More iterations engrain energy and attention, which adds inertia and reduces conscious choice.
Inertia:
Tendency to keep going on the same path. Newton’s first law of motion states that momentum is conserved. In a the context of behavior, inertia is habituation.
Inner Healer:
Your parasympathetic system that manages your physiology and your LifeForce. The one who catches your adrenal wounds and reintegrates them.
Joker:
A jester who tells jokes. A wild card that can be any card you want. It is formless until you assign the exact card to want it to become. Stem cells have a similar skill of becoming the type of cell needed to heal a particular wound.
Kindness:
A feeling, often emanating from the chest that surges upward. Implementing the algorithm of Friendship. Compassion is loving-kindness.
Intrinsic Breath:
The natural state of a living body. Breath is automated, managed by the autonomic nervous system. To access your Intrinsic Breath, get out of the way of your breath by removing all background tension. Breathing techniques are good, but not intrinsic.
Neural Software:
The signals that animate your anatomical hardware. See static free sensory signals.
Neural Static:
White noise in the nervous system from errant or excessive signals.
NeuroImmune Symmetry:
The adrenals detect threats and ask - “friend or foe?”. Your immune system keeps your cells safe by asking incoming molecules - “self or non-self?”.
Permission:
The license to do something, or to stop doing. The Reboot affirms your permission to actually turn off your dimmers and let go completely! It’s my favorite word in the English language!
Qi:
Energy and Breath. LifeForce is the metabolic energy that animates living bodies. Qi is also energy in the environment, like sunlight, heat, momentum, even matter. In the next book I propose a Unified Theory of Qi and I update the definition Qi as energy, breath, and information.
Qi Machine:
Your human body and the energy it generates and circulates. Your cellular metabolism and the electrical signals coursing through your anatomy
Reboot:
A 2 step process where you drain the circuit and restart a fresh network.
Relax:
Lengthening muscles. Turning off dimmers, shutting off the motor side. AntiTechnique. Non-Doing.
Release:
The Third Principle of letting go and detaching from what happened. When you Release what was, you can Accept the incoming moment and repeat the 3 Principles.
Static Free Sensory Signals:
No neural static sharpens the mind. Crisp perception.
Stem Cell Skills:
The ability to become whatever is needed to repair what has been damaged. An undifferentiated wild card that is formless until it assumes the form that is needed.
Technique:
Electrical choices, dimmer decisions. An attempt to change something used in the Fight Response.
The Three Principles:
The 3 phases of flow, the algorithm of health. The inverse of Accept Feel Release is Freeze Flight Fight.
Trust:
Trust provides permission. Having confidence or faith. Willingness.
Trustworthy:
Providing a reason to trust. Being there, holding space, having empathy.
What is:
The actual events that occur. In Relativity, an event has 4 coordinates - 3 spacial parameters describe where the event takes place, and time tells us when it happens.
“Taking a deep breath is shoving air through a narrow tube”
“If your lips are touching, be suspicious”
“Get out of the way of your breath”
